Bay Head School Referendum

Dear Community Members, Parents, Guardians, Staff, & Alumni,

The Bay Head School District is thrilled to announce that the bond referendum has passed! We extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who took the time to learn about the proposal, share information with others and cast their vote. Our school community’s involvement and engagement help shape the future of our school and, most importantly, our students.

Now, we move forward together. With this support, the Bay Head School District can take the next steps towards critical improvements, including the repair and reinforcement of structural supports and the crawl space in an older wing of the building, replacing sections of the roof, repairing and replacing brickwork and other facets of the exterior façade, and renovating restrooms to ensure ADA compliance.

Again, this referendum's success is a testament to the commitment of the entire Bay Head Community. We look forward to working together to ensure a bright future for our students!

Thank you again,
Adam L. Angelozzi, Ed.D.
Superintendent, Bay Head School District

What Will the Referendum Include?
  • Structural Support Replacement & Repairs
  • Roofing Replacement
  • Exterior Facade Repairs
  • Restroom Renovations (ADA Compliant)
The referendum includes the highest priority items for the District, ensuring the building and educational spaces are structurally sound and up to code. While the total cost is approximately $2.99 Million, we have organized these projects into the referendum to achieve a minimal tax impact on all taxpayers. The DOE has approved up to 40% in debt service aid for this referendum. The estimated tax increase on the average home assessed at $1,712,648 is approximately $15/month.* This tax impact is an average over 15 years. If the referendum doesn’t pass, the District will not receive any debt service aid, and the entire cost of the projects will need to be passed on to the local taxpayers. Your vote matters!

The Bay Head School is a special place mainly due to the staff, families, community members, and students who value and are committed to a well-rounded education where students are challenged and supported in safe and nurturing learning environments. With that noted, the physical Bay Head School also adds to the culture and climate of the school community. Constructed in the 1930s, parts of the Bay Head School have endured nearly 100 years of life by the sea and require some much-needed restoration. Structural supports and the crawl space in an older wing of the building need to be repaired, reinforced, and brought up to code; sections of the roof require replacement; brickwork and other facets of the exterior façade need repair and replacement; and finally, when a school district engages in work of this nature, restrooms need to be renovated to ensure ADA compliance. To that end, the proposed Bay Head School Bond Referendum is a no-frills project that is slated to receive 40% in financial support from the state, will have a minimal impact on taxpayers, and will help ensure the longevity of the Bay Head School, an icon in the community.
